Our history

Recognizing the need for high quality outpatient imaging services, Honolulu Imaging Center (formerly known as Hawaii Advanced Imaging) was started in 2002 with a single mobile PET imaging unit. In 2006, we acquired the first PET/CT scanner in Hawaii and expanded our services in a permanent location in downtown Honolulu. We expanded our imaging services in November 2007 with the addition of a 3.0 Tesla MRI, the most technologically advanced MRI available for clinical use.

In late 2012, responding to growing demand for reliable outpatient medical imaging services, we acquired the most advanced 3.0 Tesla OPEN MRI machine available for clinical use and expanded our operations by moving to Hale Pawaa, the only Class A professional services building in Hawaii, where we are currently located today. Our name became Honolulu Imaging Center with a change in ownership in October 2021.
